In collaboration with Post Ranch Inn, I am currently exhibiting a series of paintings at the Sierra Mar. High atop the cliffs of Big Sur, 1200 feet above the Pacific Ocean, sits Post Ranch Inn within one of the world’s most picturesque landscapes. Knowing my paintings are on the walls at Sierra Mar is beyond what I ever imagined. If I was to envision the most fitting setting or context for my art, this is it. The architecture is thoughtfully embedded into the Santa Lucia Range landscape of Big Sur. This is where the land appears to cascade into the ocean. Being here, I feel a powerful energy that is a constant source of inspiration.

I have discovered a fascination with distinct patterns on land formed by natural occurrences in that particular place – I dig into the authenticity and truth behind this repository of meaning. Working in dry climates, I see distinct seasonality that provides ‘fertile’ conditions to accentuate these landscape patterns. Each experience affects me in completely different ways, largely dependent on my attitude in that particular moment – What am I bringing to this particular place and what am I taking away?
