A native of west coast Canada, Alex brings a broad range of multi-disciplinary experience and over a decade of working with clients on residential landscape projects. His ability to work from planning scale to fine detail and construction is reflective of his extensive design education. Alex holds a Bachelor in Industrial Design from Emily Carr University of Art and Design and a Master in Landscape Architecture from the University of British Columbia. Years of travel have informed a well trained eye for materiality, proportion, form and photography.
Alex’s international experience includes sustainable bamboo architecture initiatives in the Philippines, studying urban planning with the city of Amsterdam and exhibiting furniture designs at some of the nations leading design fairs. In research, Alex’s focus on the restorative aspects of a sensitively designed landscape led him to a scholarship in Japan under renowned zen garden designer Shunmyo Masuno. Alex’s mindful approach brings a welcome addition to the team at Bernard Trainor + Associates.
